This authorization applies to the power stations of Belleville-sur-Loire, Cattenom, Flamanville (1 and 2), Golfech, Nogent-sur-Seine, Paluel, Penly and Saint-Alban/Saint-Maurice.
A large part of France's nuclear power plants may remain in operation for 50 years after a decision by the nuclear inspectorate.
The Autorité de sécurité nucléaire et de radiation protection announced on Thursday 3 July that the 20 French reactors of 1,300 MW will be extended for ten years, the oldest of which will be 40 years old in 2026. During their next ten-year visit, these reactors "will be the subject of a public inquiry", states EDF.
The Autorité de sécurité nucléaire et de radiation protection has given its green light to the 10-year extension of the 20 French reactors of 1,300 MW, the oldest of which will be 40 years from next year.
This decision concerns all the 1300 megawatt reactors in the French park, some of which will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2026, reaching the expected operating time at the time of their design.
