Arriva will not be operating Sprinter services on the railway lines from Zwolle to Leeuwarden and Groningen in the coming years. The carrier does not have enough trains to guarantee continued service on these northern lines, writes State Secretary Annet Bertram (Public Transport, CDA) in a letter to the House of Representatives. The train services have been awarded to NS (Dutch Railways) until 2033.
