COMMENT. For too long, Sveriges Radio has had to fill the airwaves with news without any competition. The fact that Aftonbladet will start broadcasting national radio is therefore good news.
Aftonbladet is starting a radio channel. On Wednesday, the Swedish Media Authority announced that the newspaper will receive one of three national radio licenses. Radio NRJ is losing the battle. – This is a shock that we are having a hard time accepting, says NRJ CEO Richard Mazeret in a press release.
NRJ loses its broadcasting license – instead, Aftonbladet gets a license and starts its own radio channel. The decision comes from the Swedish Media Authority. Aftonbladet writes that the broadcasts will begin on August 1.
