Election Commission Expedites Voter ID Delivery Process
- On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Election Commission of India in New Delhi announced a new Standard Operating Procedure that guarantees Electors Photo Identity Cards will be dispatched within 15 days following new registrations or updates to the electoral rolls.
- The EC implemented this SOP to enhance efficiency and reduce the previous delivery time of over a month for Elector Photo Identity Cards for new and updated voter records.
- The new system includes a dedicated IT module on the ECINet platform integrating the Department of Posts API for seamless processing and real-time tracking from card generation to delivery with SMS updates.
