UNITED STATES, AUG 1 – Cat Video Fest screens in over 500 theaters, raising more than $1 million since 2019 to support cat-focused charities and animal welfare organizations.
- Later this month, Cat Video Fest screens in more than 500 independent theaters in the U.S. and Canada, with ticket proceeds benefiting cat charities and shelters.
- Will Braden, Seattle-based creator and curator of the festival, struggled to convince independent theaters to program it, watching thousands of hours of internet videos to curate the lineup.
- Fundraising at Cat Video Fest has supported multiple animal welfare groups, with over $1 million raised since 2019, and ten percent of ticket sales go to Los Gatos de Barrio Logan.
- At San Diego's East Village cinema, Saturday's 5 p.m. screening is already sold out as audiences from kids to grandparents flock to the festival.
- With global expansion reaching new markets, venues in the United Kingdom, Denmark, and debut markets France, Spain, Japan, and Brazil plan to host Cat Video Fest again.
