Now Elden Ring Production Has Begun, the Set Photo Leaks Are Flooding in — and There Are Potentially a Lot of Spoilers Doing the Rounds

- The Hollywood Reporter reported the film is A24's largest and most ambitious project ever, with a budget exceeding $100 million. Writer and director Alex Garland, who previously directed Civil War, leads production after pitching the project to FromSoftware.
- A24 confirmed the full cast list last week, featuring Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, and Cailee Spaeny. Set photos reveal props suggesting iconic game locations like the Academy of Raya Lucaria, Stormveil, and the Royal Capital of Leyndell are being adapted.
- Scheduled for release on March 3, 2028, the film is created under the guidance of FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki. The script is based on a mythological story by Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, who described Garland as a "first rate director."
- Garland revealed he is on his seventh playthrough of the game while preparing for the film. He identified Malenia, Blade of Miquella, as the most difficult foe, noting "You just keep doing it, and eventually, one day they're dead.
