Novel PET imaging method quantifies brain inflammation enzyme

A novel PET imaging approach can effectively quantify a key enzyme associated with brain inflammation, according to research published in the March issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine.

In clinical practice, the presence of a dedicated and permanent nuclear physician, accompanied by medical technologists with adequate training, is essential. In addition, each centre must maintain strict quality control of its equipment, following official regulations, such as the “Technical Standard of Nuclear Medicine” issued a year ago by the Ministry of Health.

Researchers are hopeful that their technique could improve the diagnosis of conditions associated with neural inflammation.
