Not Your Everyday Coffee in a Serbia Cafe. Enjoy It in the Company of Alpacas

Visits must be prearranged and cost about 10 euros, including a drink and alpaca food, at a rare European attraction.

  • On Wednesday, the Tiganjica Ethno-Village resort in Stajicevo, Serbia, opened a rare Alpaca Cafe where six alpacas roam among tables, interacting with guests 50 kilometers north of Belgrade.
  • Resort owner Zoran Ostojin conceived the cafe after visiting Slovakia, inspired to share the animals' energy with his country. The herd began eight years ago with a gift from the Belgrade Zoo.
  • Alpaca carer Simona Frangi notes each animal possesses a distinct personality; Snezana leads the herd despite being smallest. Visitors receive buckets of carrots, lettuce, and apples to feed them during organized tours.
  • Prearranged visits cost around 10 euros , including a drink and alpaca food. Ostojin said the animals offer a "healing ability" through the "energy, the emotion that this animal sends out."
  • Alpacas are sensitive to human intentions, naturally moving away if they feel threatened but approaching those offering kindness. Known for their mild disposition and gentle humming sounds, they communicate through these unique vocalizations.
