Northland Nature: Queen Anne's lace makes royal appearance

While traveling in the region in recent weeks, I noticed a large number of wildflowers blooming on the roadsides. Many of the ones from earlier — hawkweeds, lupines and buttercups — are into the seed-forming phase. Others have taken over; their flowers are of various colors. Yellows are dominated by birdsfoot trefoils and black-eyed Susans, but among these are sweetclovers, evening primroses, St. John's worts, sow thistles and a couple late summ…
