North Shields murder investigation launched after woman dies
- On January 24, a murder investigation was launched on North Tyneside following the death of a woman in her 40s outside Charlie’s Bar .
- Emergency services were called shortly after 10pm on Saturday after an altercation on Russell Street, North Shields left the woman with a serious injury and NEAS and Great North Air Ambulance attended.
- A double-crewed ambulance, backed by Great North Air Ambulance's medical car, took the woman to hospital with a doctor on board, but she died a short time later despite medical staff efforts.
- Detective Chief Inspector Mark Atherton said a cordon surrounds Charlie's Bar, the venue will remain closed today, and the woman's next of kin are being supported by officers.
