North Sea temperature off Dutch coast hits record high: statistics
THE HAGUE, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The temperature of the North Sea off the Dutch coast rose to 21.5 degrees Celsius last weekend, the highest level recorded since measurements began in 1984, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) said Wednesday.
We have just gone through a warm spell, and this is also reflected in the temperature of the seawater. The North Sea has never been as warm as it was last weekend, reports the KNMI.
The North Sea water averaged 21.5 degrees last weekend. Water temperatures have been recorded since 1984, and the sea has never been this warm before. According to the KNMI, this is due to climate change and a high-pressure system with plenty of sunshine and little wind.
