Norse Atlantic ASA: Norse and PIA Sign Partnership for Two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners
The long-term ACMI deal will help Norse Atlantic offset demand and fuel-price swings as it seeks more contract flying, the airline said.
On Friday, Norse Atlantic Airways announced it will lease two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Pakistan International Airlines , marking a strategic move to shore up its finances.
Facing soaring jet fuel costs, Norse is prioritizing ACMI agreements to shield against passenger demand swings after India's IndiGo ended its wet-lease contract in July.
Operations for PIA are scheduled to begin in November 2026, with Norse operating a fleet of 12 Dreamliners while pursuing additional ACMI contracts with other international carriers.
The lease coincides with the Arif Habib Consortium taking over management of PIA after the government formally completed the privatization process for the flag carrier.
Beyond the new lease, Norse formally initiated a process in July to explore a potential sale or merger as it considers strategic options for the business.
