NOPD changes policy on allowing weapons, hazardous materials on police drones

The New Orleans Police Department recently changed course on a proposed policy that would have potentially allowed the use of weapons on drones deployed in the French Quarter. The change came after local organizations pushed back against the policy.  The NOPD has been using drones to assist with law enforcement citywide since 2024.
