Noem: Illegal immigrants 'go home'; state rep. ejected from Nashville airport event
DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, JUL 18 – Secretary Noem offered a $1,000 stipend to undocumented immigrants who self-deport after ICE arrested 544 migrants in Nashville, focusing on those with criminal records, officials said.
- On July 17, Nashville International Airport hosted a briefing where Noem advised undocumented residents to self-deport with a $1,000 incentive, and Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones was removed for questioning her.
- Since May 2, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested 544 migrants, with the visit following operations that began on May 2 and targeted hundreds of individuals.
- Jones highlighted that 196 people had been detained, 'many of them have never been charged with a crime,' Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones said.
- Noem criticized the mayor for ‘doxxing’ ICE agents, while she said `He really put their lives at risk.`
