The winners of each Nobel Prize will leave this year with a bigger check in their pocket: the Nobel Foundation announced on Friday that it had raised the amount of the endowment, for a total of around 1.71 million Canadian dollars.

This year's Nobel prize-winners, to be announced October 5-12, will receive 12 million kroner ($1.27 million) per discipline, up from 11 million in 2025, the Nobel Foundation said Friday. "This year, we are celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Nobel Prize, and in connection with this, we are pleased to be able to increase the prize amount by one million (kroner)," the director of the Nobel Foundation, Hanna Stjarne, said in a statement.
This year's awards will be announced between October 5 and 12.
The Nobel Foundation is increasing the amount of the Nobel Prize prize money by 9 percent this year, so that the laureates in all six categories will receive 12 million Swedish kronor (about $1.22 million).
