No Trace of Missing Boy After Fresh Outback Search
Police said the three-day search found no new evidence as investigators continue to rule out abduction and review more than 800 public tips.
On Thursday, Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke confirmed Task Force Horizon concluded an 11th search of Oak Park Station, failing to uncover new evidence regarding missing four-year-old Gus Lamont after three days of operations.
Gus vanished from the remote Oak Park Station homestead on September 27, 2025; police declared his disappearance a major crime in February 2026 after eight months without locating him.
Police contacted over 500 people identified as being "in and around" Oak Park Station when Gus disappeared. While one grandparent remains a suspect, officials found "no evidence to suggest that Gus has been abducted."
Conceding the search has been "demoralising at times," Fielke admitted that as time passes, the likelihood of finding the boy alive diminishes. "The longer this goes on, the closer we get to not finding him," he said.
Investigators plan to use drones to revisit areas 15km outside Oak Park Station, maintaining resolve to eventually recover the boy despite lacking recent breakthroughs in the eight-month investigation.
