The fire was recorded on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 22, on an off-duty vessel that was being dismantled inside a ship recycling facility. According to the latest information, the workers were working on a section of the ship when some materials were burned, which caused the incident. Brownsville Fire Department responded quickly to the call and managed to control and extinguish the fire without registering injured persons.
