No hazardous items found near Israeli embassy after drone attack claim
Counter-terror police said the items, including two jars of powder, were non-hazardous as they investigated a possible link to an online threat video.
- On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police reopened Kensington Gardens after assessing suspicious items found near the Israeli Embassy as non-hazardous. Counter-terrorism officers had cordoned off the park on Friday following an online threat.
- A pro-Iranian group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, posted a video claiming to target the embassy with drones carrying "dangerous substances." Police are investigating the video's authenticity and any link to the discovered items.
- Large-Scale security measures included deployments by the London Fire Brigade, Met divers, and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialists. Officers examined two jars containing a powdered substance found around 500m from the embassy.
- Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London stated that inquiries remain ongoing while emphasizing the embassy "was not attacked." She confirmed there is no increased public safety risk at this stage.
- Authorities are not linking this incident to recent arson attacks in Finchley and Golders Green. However, the group has claimed responsibility for previous attacks on Jewish targets across Western Europe, prompting continued vigilance.
