Nigeria: NNPC Records Decline in Oil, Gas Output in July As Disruptions Hit Operations
Crude output fell 2.3% month on month as facility outages, pipeline incidents and equipment shortages cut July production and gas sales, NNPC said.
- The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited reported crude oil and condensate production declined to 1.68 million barrels per day in July, down from 1.72 mbpd in June, according to its monthly report published on Wednesday.
- Operational disruptions across several assets drove the decline, including facility outages, equipment unavailability, pipeline incidents, and production constraints, NNPC stated.
- Financial performance mirrored the production slump, as revenue fell to ₦3.087 trillion from ₦4.389 trillion in June, while profit after tax dropped to ₦279 billion from ₦535 billion.
- Despite lower output, gas infrastructure demonstrated strong reliability, with the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben Gas Pipeline recording 100 per cent availability and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline at 95 per cent.
- To reverse the trend, NNPC will focus on sustaining high facility uptime through preventive maintenance, minimizing unplanned downtime, and optimizing export operations to unlock incremental production opportunities.
