NEW JERSEY, JUL 19 – Ritesh Kalra allegedly wrote over 31,000 opioid prescriptions without legitimate medical purpose and exchanged prescriptions for sexual favors, also defrauding Medicaid with false billing.
- On Jul 19, 2025, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced three counts of distributing opioids for sexual favors and two counts of health care fraud.
- According to court documents, Ritesh Kalra wrote over 31,000 oxycodone prescriptions between January 2019 and February 2025, prescribing opioids without legitimate medical purpose in his Fair Lawn, New Jersey practice.
- Several patients reported forced anal sex during clinical appointments and inappropriate touching and coercion to obtain prescriptions.
- On Thursday in Newark federal court, Kalra made his initial appearance before a US Magistrate Judge and was released to home incarceration on a $100,000 unsecured bond.
