NIS suspends OIS visa application services in US

Applicants must now submit Nigerian visa requests directly to the embassy and consulates, while the e-Visa system remains unaffected, the NIS said.

  • The Nigeria Immigration Service announced Thursday it has disengaged Online Integrated Solutions from handling visa application submissions in the United States, effective immediately.
  • This suspension follows United States restrictions on Nigeria and other African nations, which introduced partial visa bans and bond requirements of up to $15,000 for specific visa categories.
  • While OIS Services previously managed visa centers, the NIS clarified this change does not impact the electronic visa system, which remains available for travelers to use.
  • Applicants must now submit visa requests directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, or to the Nigerian Consulates in New York and Atlanta until further notice.
  • Service Public Relations Officer DCI Akinsola Akinlabi stated the Service has implemented measures to ensure seamless visa processing while applicants monitor official Nigerian Mission communication channels for updates.
