Nine candidates run in Las Vegas congressional district
Nine candidates are running, but Titus and Buck have drawn most endorsements and money, with Buck narrowly outraising the incumbent by $40,000.
On Tuesday, nine candidates vie for Nevada's 1st Congressional District primary, with Democratic Rep. Dina Titus and Republican state Sen. Carrie Ann Buck leading in endorsements and financial backing.
Titus, a former state senator seeking an eighth term, faces three Democratic challengers; Buck, the only Republican candidate holding public office, represents the 5th Nevada Senate District.
Campaign filings show Buck raised $1.21 million, narrowly beating Titus at $1.17 million, while redistricting in 2021 created closer margins where Titus won by 7.5% in 2024.
Titus criticized the Trump administration's handling of inflation and gas prices, while Buck told Maggie's List PAC, "I'm ready to take the fight to Congress" to protect parents' rights and secure the border.
Despite endorsements from Trump and Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo, Buck faces long odds: predictive market Kalshi gives Democrats a 73% advantage in November, and no Republican has won the district in 30 years.
