- The Lagos State Police Command had rejected the coalition's notice on Tuesday, yet the march proceeded and police did not immediately comment on the events.
- With more than 20 million residents, Lagos's housing shortage has spawned many informal settlements; Makoko began as a fishing village more than 100 years ago with an estimated 80,000 to 200,000 residents.
