Troops recovered machine guns, rifles and 748 rounds of ammunition after a follow-up operation based on intelligence from arrested IPOB and ESN suspects.
- On Wednesday, the Nigerian Army and DSS Enugu State Command uncovered an arms cache hidden inside a zinc structure disguised as a piggery in Gariki, Enugu State during a joint precision operation.
- The operation followed intelligence from previously arrested suspects linked to the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, whom authorities say are responsible for regional kidnappings.
- Seized items included eight AK-47 rifles, one smoke grenade launcher, two tear gas canisters, 12 magazines, and 323 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, plus 10 pairs of uniforms allegedly belonging to IPOB members.
- All confiscated items and suspects were transferred to the DSS Enugu State Command for investigation, while a follow-up precision operation on Wednesday in the Agbani axis of Enugu recovered additional weaponry.
- Operation UDO KA continues efforts to neutralize terrorist threats and restore regional stability after the South East recently witnessed relative peace following cancellation of weekly sit-at-home orders.
