Osun Election: Adeleke Receives Certificate of Return
INEC said Adeleke won 511,067 votes, ahead of the APC’s Bola Oyebamiji, and formally confirmed his return for a second term.
- On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission presented the Certificate of Return to Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo, Osun State, confirming his re-election for a four-year term.
- Adeleke secured victory in Saturday's governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, and African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam, who received 17,180 votes.
- INEC Returning Officer Joshua Ogunwole reported total valid votes cast reached 985,079, while 20,721 votes were rejected, bringing the total ballots cast to 1,005,800.
- During his acceptance speech, Adeleke called on opponents to join him in moving Osun State forward and announced scholarships for children of those who lost their lives during the election.
- Adeleke appreciated President Bola Tinubu for allowing democracy to thrive, as INEC projects over 100 million registered voters for the 2027 general elections.
