Nigeria: 'I Didn't File Any Petition Against Adeleke' - Osun PDP Candidate
Adebayo Adedamola said he never authorized the petition, while the tribunal struck it out after the withdrawal motion.
- On Tuesday, Peoples Democratic Party candidate Wole Oluyede formally withdrew his petition challenging Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji's re-election, and the tribunal struck out the case at its first sitting in Ado-Ekiti.
- Oluyede stated his decision was out of respect for President Bola Tinubu, claiming he acted at the request of 'important people' to foster unity and de-escalate political tensions in the state.
- Separately, the All Progressives Congress in Osun State withdrew its petition against Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday, with lawyer Oluseyi Oyagbile filing the motion after receiving instructions from party leaders.
- Meanwhile, PDP candidate Adebayo Adedamola disowned a petition filed in his name against Adeleke, stating he never authorized the suit and voted for the Accord Party candidate instead.
- While major party challenges have been withdrawn, the tribunal adjourned to Thursday for rulings on pre-hearing reports and scheduled hearing dates for September 14 for petitions filed by the Social Democratic Party and Action Alliance.
