- Following the World Health Organisation's declaration of the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, the NCDC assessed Nigeria's risk of importation as "HIGH" due to porous borders, international travel, and regional movement.
- According to the advisory, the outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 1,077 suspected infections and 247 deaths, with a case fatality rate as high as 24.6 per cent and no approved vaccines for the Bundibugyo strain.
- NCDC Director-General Jide Idris activated the Emergency Operations Centre and directed states to submit readiness reports within 72 hours, emphasizing swift action to protect healthcare workers and contain any suspected cases.
- Sustained vigilance and funding will determine Nigeria's containment effectiveness, particularly as early Ebola symptoms often resemble common febrile illnesses like malaria and Lassa fever, risking delayed detection.
