Nigeria: Dangote Cement's Half-Year Profit Climbs 23 Percent to ₦639 Billion On Sales Growth

Turnover climbed to ₦2.5 trillion as production volume rose 10 percent and finance costs fell more than half, boosting core profitability.

  • Dangote Cement posted 22.7 per cent profit growth for the first half of 2026, with turnover reaching ₦2.5 trillion from ₦2.1 trillion. Profit after tax surged to ₦638.5 billion from ₦520.5 billion, aided by a 10 per cent rise in production volume.
  • The EBITDA margin reached 47.3 per cent, driven by robust operating profit performance in the Nigerian unit. Finance costs dropped more than half to ₦112.1 billion, providing significant tailwind for the manufacturer's bottom-line growth during the period.
  • Total assets advanced 9.6 per cent to ₦6.6 trillion, boosted by sharply higher cash and cash equivalents. The company plans to expand capacity from 55 MTPA to 80 MTPA by 2030, with clinker contributing significantly to Nigerian operation exports.
  • Lagos-Based investment management firm Cardinal Stone projects the manufacturer will hit ₦4.8 trillion in annual revenue this year. The forecast anchors optimism on rapid infrastructure development in Congo, Tanzania and Cameroon, where the company maintains operations.
  • The six-month revenue average of ₦2.4 trillion indicates Dangote Cement's performance is already outpacing analysts' projections. This trajectory suggests strong momentum as the corporation pursues its medium-term expansion strategy through 2030.
