Nigeria: Blord Granted Bail
The judge ordered him to deposit his passport and barred public comments as VDM’s lawyer withdrew opposition to the bail application.
- On Friday, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted Linus Williams Ifejirika, known as BLord, N20 million bail with two sureties of reputable standing. Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia ordered him to deposit his international passport as part of the conditions.
- BLord had been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre since April 1 following his arraignment on six counts of alleged impersonation involving activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan .
- During the hearing, VDM's lawyer withdrew a previously filed counter-affidavit, signaling no further objection to bail. BLord's counsel, Abubakar Marshal, stated both parties are now planning to settle the matter amicably.
- Omoyele Sowore, a human rights campaigner, advocated for the release and described the initial remand as a system of oppression. The court also cautioned the 28-year-old against commenting publicly on the case.
- Tensions between the parties originated in October 2025 over the businessman's sale of an "iPhone XR converted to an iPhone 17 Pro Max." Escalation came in January when he announced the launch of the "Ratel" app.
