The city administrator of Niamey wants to see an end to plastic bags in the capital's supermarkets. A law has been in place in Niger since 2014, but 12 years later, plastic bags are still prevalent. They are highly polluting and difficult to manage. The city of Niamey has therefore issued a decree banning them from its supermarkets by the end of the year.
