The President of Romania participated on Wednesday in the official launch of the Unit 1 retechnologicalisation project of the nuclear power plant from Cernavoda. Nicusor Dan stressed that nuclear energy is a matter of national security, and Romania has a competitive advantage in this sector.
Retention of Unit 1 has a strategic importance for Romania
Romania will change its status from an importer to an exporter of electricity in seven years. Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan made the announcement today, at the start of modernization works at Unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. President Nicuşor Dan was also present there and declared himself a supporter of nuclear energy, a sector in which Romania has a great advantage, 30 years of experience of our specialists.
