Nicolas Cage's 'Spider-Noir': Release Date and Time on Prime Video
The eight-episode series is available in black-and-white or color, with Nicolas Cage starring as Ben Reilly in a noir reimagining of Spider-Man.
- On Wednesday, Prime Video releases all eight episodes of Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, an aging private investigator in 1930s New York, available in either 'Authentic Black & White' or 'True-Hue Full Color' formats.
- Though Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir in Sony's 2018 animated film Into the Spider-Verse, this live-action series reimagines the character as The Spider, a former vigilante who abandoned his superhero identity after gaining radioactive spider powers years earlier.
- The ensemble cast includes Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as nightclub singer Cat Hardy, and Karen Rodriguez as Ben's secretary Janet, with Rodriguez noting the black and white presentation 'enriches the storytelling' by creating 'a world that feels dark and anybody could walk in at any point.'
- Critical reception diverged: Empire called it 'an utterly insane stew that somehow makes perfect sense,' while The Hollywood Reporter criticized the dual format as 'at the very least, irritating,' arguing it 'hasn't really been optimised for anything.'
- Spider-Noir joins Prime Video's 2026 superhero slate alongside The Boys and Invincible, with showrunner Oren Uziel telling The Hollywood Reporter the series is 'conceived to be as many seasons as we want to go,' positioning the platform as a major franchise destination.
