Niall Horan Thankful He Has Happy Last Memory of Liam Payne
Horan says grief over his former One Direction bandmate has both sadness and humor, and he is staying in touch with Payne’s family.
Niall Horan told The Sunday Times' Culture magazine that his final memory of Liam Payne was "happy," expressing gratitude for their last time together before Payne's death in October 2024.
Payne died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony, yet Horan emphasized their friendship remained strong despite periods without contact.
Horan included a tribute titled "End" of an "Era" on his forthcoming album, Dinner Party, while bandmate Louis Tomlinson wrote his own tribute, "Dark" to "Light."
Explaining there is "light and shade" to his grief, Horan said he finds comfort in memories and acknowledged fans also experienced loss, stating, "We have this shared thing, but so do the fans."
When asked about a potential One Direction reunion, Horan responded, "God knows," noting that Harry Styles and Louis continue succeeding individually while fans remain invested in the band's future.
