Antrim: Police Investigating Email Sent to Multiple Schools and Businesses
Police say they have increased reassurance patrols and are investigating reports that multiple schools and businesses received a threatening email.
On Tuesday, the PSNI launched an investigation after multiple schools and businesses in County Antrim received threatening emails, prompting increased reassurance patrols across affected areas.
The sinister email claimed that "multiple pipe bombs" had been left at premises and threatened attacks with "multiple guns and knives," though police are treating the message as a hoax linked to a false report from Monday.
St Benedict's College in Randalstown advised parents that pupils would be "kept indoors" as a precaution, while many parents expressed understandable concern on social media, with some choosing not to send children to school.
South Antrim DUP MLA Trevor Clarke condemned the threats, urging the public not to be "unnecessarily alarmed," while SDLP Antrim Councillor Roisin Lynch welcomed the swift police response and emphasized student safety.
Investigators continue to engage with affected parties, urging anyone with information to report suspicious activity to police on 101, or 999 in an emergency, as the force remains committed to identifying the sender.
