Nurse Who Told Cancer Patient Covid Jabs 'Caused Your Cancer' Struck Off
The NMC found 4 of 6 charges proven after she told a patient Covid jabs caused cancer and accessed records without permission.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council struck off Penny Ann Senner, an adult nurse at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust, after she told a patient that Covid vaccinations were 'what caused your cancer' and accessed 'numerous' patient records without authorization.
During an August 2023 appointment, Senner broached the topic of Covid jabs in a 'sly manner' with the vulnerable patient, who was undergoing chemotherapy, then handed her an anti-vaccination leaflet retrieved from her vehicle.
The tribunal heard Senner began compiling patient records for 'research' shortly after Covid vaccines were introduced. The patient, who accepted the leaflet 'out of genuine concern,' later described Senner's comments as a 'direct and definitive claim.'
Ruling that four out of six charges were found proven, the panel issued an interim suspension order of 18 months to allow Senner time to appeal. Responding to allegations, Senner stated she was 'deeply sorry' to hear the patient was upset.
The panel concluded Senner attempted to undermine public confidence in public health advice with her actions, which were inconsistent with Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust policies and UK health guidance.
