Vita Vea Staying in Tampa After Signing New Bucs Deal
Adam Schefter said the sides shifted from trade talks to an extension, with Vea set to earn $6 million in new money this season.
On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Vita Vea agreed to a one-year, $30 million extension, officially ending his trade request.
Vea, 31, had requested a trade last month after his existing contract lacked guaranteed money and failed to reflect his market value among peers.
The extension provides $6 million in new money for the 2026 season, securing Vea for two additional years with the franchise that originally drafted him.
Interest from the San Francisco 49ers was dismissed by the agreement, as Buccaneers leadership never considered trading the star defender despite his request.
Returning to the field, Vea plans to resume work with Tampa Bay to pursue another championship, continuing his eight-year career with the franchise.
