Judge to Approve Purdue Settlement

The settlement requires the Sackler family to pay up to $7 billion over 15 years and relinquish company control after years of litigation, following Supreme Court rejection of a prior deal.

NEW YORK — A federal bankruptcy court judge said Friday he'll approve OxyContin-maker Purdue Pharma's latest deal to settle thousands of lawsuits over the toll of opioids that includes some money for thousands of victims of the epidemic.
