In order to organize World Cup races against the backdrop of the Matterhorn, the existing slope has to be rebuilt. In addition to the path guidance, around 8300 square meters of forest have to be cleared.
The congregation of Zermatt has agreed to the construction of a new ski-world cup descent route.
On Tuesday, Zermatt's primary assembly approved the creation of a new Alpine World Cup track, which is reserved for speed specialists and will be launched at Gornergrat. The first race is scheduled to take place in March 2028.
