Newport man, 19, arrested for allegedly luring a child on Snapchat

A 19-year-old Newport man was arrested after Lane County detectives investigated the online exploitation of a local child through Snapchat, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

Newport Man Arrested For Child Exploitation Online

In February 2026, Lane County detectives, as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, began an investigation into the online exploitation of a local child involving the Snapchat application. On July 1, 2026, investigators identified the suspect as 19-year-old Diego Rojas-Hernandez of Newport, Oregon.
