Newborn Baby's Body Found on Shoreline in Wales as 'Direct Appeal' Made to Mother
Police said the mother may be vulnerable and urged anyone with information to come forward as investigators continue searches and a post-mortem is scheduled.
On Sunday, September 27, a member of the public discovered the body of a newborn baby along the shoreline near Siliwen Road in Bangor. North Wales Police are working to establish the circumstances.
Extensive searches are underway to identify the mother, who remains missing. A Home Office post-mortem is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon to determine the cause of death.
Fiona Giraud, Director of Midwifery and Women's Services for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, expressed 'real concerns for the health of the mother,' noting she is likely 'extremely vulnerable.'
Detective Sergeant Kelly Wynne appealed directly to the mother and potential witnesses, stating 'inaction is not an option' and the mother 'desperately needs help.'
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting Operation Melex, or use the Major Incident Public Portal. Residents in Bangor may see increased police presence during the investigation.
