New York Giants are signing running back Najee Harris, AP source says
On Tuesday, the New York Giants signed veteran running back Najee Harris, a former Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowler, to a one-year contract. Harris visited team facilities on Monday to finalize the deal.
The move follows the team's decision to waive running back Dante Miller, who suffered a groin injury during Saturday's preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings. This created an urgent need for depth.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh admitted Harris is not back to 100% after his 2025 Achilles injury, noting recovery "it'll be a process." Despite this, Harbaugh praised the veteran's workout performance.
Harris now joins a rotation featuring second-year rusher Cam Skattebo, who is returning from a season-ending leg injury. Running backs Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Eric Gray also compete for backfield reps.
Four consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns with Pittsburgh established Harris's reputation before his injury-plagued season with the Los Angeles Chargers. This track record offers the Giants a decorated veteran presence.
