New Xbox handheld revealed with OLED screen and AR glasses

Asus says the updated handheld adds better controls and a 1,400-nit OLED panel while keeping the same Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip and 24GB of memory.

  • Asus unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally X20 at Computex 2026, a special edition handheld celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Republic of Gamers subbrand with a larger 7.43-inch OLED screen.
  • Incorporating overhauled TMR joysticks to "resist stick drift and minimise power consumption," the X20 features a regal gold aesthetic and four cooling vents to improve airflow compared to the Xbox Ally X.
  • The 7.43-inch OLED display reaches a peak brightness of 1,400 nits with HDR1000 support. Asus also introduced a bundle pairing the device with special edition ROG Xreal R1 X20 AR glasses.
  • Although official pricing remains unconfirmed, the special edition bundle will likely exceed $2,000, with Asus planning release ahead of the holidays later this year.
  • Further details regarding the ROG Xbox Ally X20 will likely emerge at Gamescom this summer, following announcement ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 7, featuring Gears Of War: E-Day.

The premium edition of the portable console comes with OLED panel, Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24 GB RAM and a bundle that points directly to the most demanding player.

Not too much interest for Asus to go through Intel, from a perf point of view in play and especially under SteamOS it would really be a downgrade I think. not to mention the additional R&D to draw the motherboard based on Intel.
