New south gate marks start of Sentinel work at Malmstrom

- Sentinel will replace the aging Minuteman III system, serving as the land-based leg of the nuclear triad through 2075, while the new gate separates construction traffic from daily base operations.
- "This gate will enable us to continue to operate Minuteman III safely and securely," said Col. Daniel Voorhies, 341st Missile Wing commander, during the ceremony.
- Ed Brown, CEO of the Great Falls Area Chamber, expects the multi-year project to bring new opportunities to the community, though growth brings traffic challenges.
- The Great Falls Area Chamber will host a live session at 11:30 a.m. on Friday featuring the Sentinel Task Force Commander, while environmental assessments continue for future infrastructure work.
