A new era has begun in the collection of toll fees and administrative fines on toll roads for vehicles with foreign license plates, thanks to new regulations. The regulation aims to eliminate loopholes in the system by ensuring more effective debt collection.
According to a decision published in the Official Gazette, strict controls have begun at border crossings for unpaid tolls on bridges and highways for vehicles with foreign license plates. Drivers who do not pay their debts will not be allowed to leave the country, and the penalty will be quadrupled.
According to the new regulation published in the Official Gazette, vehicles with foreign license plates that do not pay highway and bridge tolls and administrative fines will not be able to leave Türkiye. The regulation makes HGS (Highway Toll System) subscription mandatory for foreign-plated vehicles, and a penalty of four times the toll fee will be applied for unpaid tolls exceeding 45 days.
The new regulation published in the Official Gazette establishes the procedures and principles for the collection of tolls and administrative fines for vehicles with foreign license plates on toll roads. According to the regulation, additional penalties will be collected from vehicles that do not pay the tolls within the specified periods.
