New MasterChef series starring sacked hosts will be aired
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 23 – The BBC will air the pre-recorded MasterChef series despite sacking hosts after 45 misconduct allegations were upheld against Wallace and racist language confirmed against Torode.
- A BBC spokesperson said it would broadcast the MasterChef series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6 August, noting it was recorded last year before allegations and features sacked presenters.
- Following a Lewis Silkin review upheld misconduct allegations, Wallace and Torode were sacked earlier this year for physical contact and racist language findings.
- Wallace issued an apology, saying he is `deeply sorry for any distress caused` and never meant harm, while Torode said he had `no recollection of the incident` and was `shocked and saddened`, and the edit will focus on contestants.
- Honouring the contestants and preserving the findings’ gravity, the BBC decided to air the series, noting it does not diminish the seriousness of the findings.
- At this stage, BBC said it has not decided on the celebrity series and Christmas special and will confirm plans later in the year, and Tim Davie insisted MasterChef will have a future beyond 2028.
