New Malden’s musical heritage is to be celebrated at a special event.
At its peak, the Decca Records factory in Burlington Road employed hundreds of workers and could press up to 60,000 records in a day. The Sound of Music soundtrack, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, was produced there. It topped the UK album charts for a total of 70 weeks. The free event on Saturday, the 13th of September will include a sing-a-along of the film in the New Malden Station car-park.
