New lawmaker elected to represent Wichita House district

Precinct committee leaders on Thursday night elected a transgender businesswoman from Wichita to fill a vacant seat in the Kansas House. Abi Boatman was elected to replace Silas Miller in House District 86 after he was elected to replace Mary Ware in the Kansas Senate. Boatman defeated Jane Byrnes in a 6-2 vote.
