South Jersey Police Deliver DoorDash Order After Arresting Driver

On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Washington Township Police Department in Gloucester County stopped a vehicle near a local high school and arrested the wanted DoorDash driver before completing his delivery.
Because officers found outstanding warrants, the DoorDash driver told officers he was in the middle of a DoorDash delivery and had two meals in the car, Gurcsik said.
Officer Matt Barnett and Sgt. Mike Scheer took the order and personally delivered the lunch, and Ring and body camera footage show the DoorDash customer receiving the food.
DoorDash said it refunded the consumer and provided a credit, while the Washington Township Police Facebook post apologized to the resident for the surprise and noted they 'serve the community in more ways than one.'
On social media, the Washington Township Police Department noted officers recently added 'food delivery' to duties, echoing a last year incident in New Mexico where a Rio Rancho officer finished a DoorDash delivery after arresting the driver.
