Pat Bay Highway Flyover Opening Soon, After Years of Construction

SAANICH PENINSULA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JUL 26 – The $76.8 million flyover eliminates a hazardous left turn and supports over 52,000 vehicles daily, reducing congestion and improving safety in the Saanich peninsula region.

  • The new northbound flyover on Patricia Bay Highway connecting to Keating Cross Road opens on Monday, July 28, 2025, after just over two years of construction.
  • Earlier this year, in February, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit announced an accelerated timeline for the project, as it was identified as a key safety upgrade in the South Island Transportation Strategy.
  • Traffic changeover begins at midnight on Sunday, July 27, and Darren England, MoTT regional manager for project delivery, said that changeable message signs will guide drivers.
  • Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor said, `This has been a long-standing priority for our community`, and the opening eliminates the hazardous left turn from Pat Bay Highway.
  • While final work continues through summer and fall 2025, the Keating Flyover is expected to ease congestion and improve safety, according to officials.
