New Hampshire bands together to help family find lost dog
Comet was found after nearly a month weighing less than half his normal weight; community tips and fundraisers supported his recovery efforts.
- On Nov. 17, Granite State Dog Recovery captured Comet, 4-year-old shar-pei mix, in a dog-friendly cage after nearly a month following a community sighting tip in Nottingham, New Hampshire.
- Jenna Jordan left to get the mail, and Comet followed her outside, then vanished from the yard, as Jordan said, `We wanted everyone in the state to know who he was, and I think we got pretty close.`
- Dozens of tips and sightings poured in from community members across New Hampshire after the Jordan family mounted a statewide search, posting on boards, going door-to-door, printing fliers and hiring thermal drone pilots.
- Now in the hospital, Comet weighs just 32 pounds and is receiving treatment for porcupine quills and lung damage, while the Jordan family hopes to bring him home this week and fundraisers begin.
- Jordan said, `We wanted everyone in the state to know who he was, and I think we got pretty close`, as Comet joined the family six months before their daughter's leukemia treatment, rallying Granite Staters to help.
